Shenendehowa senior Lauren Sposili comes up and out of the water during the championship final of the 100-yard breaststroke Saturday afternoon at the Division I Section 2 swim championships.

ITHACA -- Section II Division I champions Bethlehem Central shined at the New York State Public High School Athletic Association swimming and diving championships last weekend at Ithaca College.

Eagles junior Sydney Sorbello finished seventh in the 50-yard freestyle as well as swam the anchor leg in Bethlehem's second-place 200-freestyle relay and a fourth-place overall finish in the 400-relay.

Here is a recap of Saturday's final race results for Section II: 

200-medley relay

The Shenendehowa quartet of junior Alice Han, junior Alison Sposili, junior Shannon Waryncia and juniro Norah Wilson finished 13th overall, 12th amond public schools in the 200-yard medley relay in 1 minute, 50.05 seconds. Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake's foursome of sophomore Ally Frame, eighth-grader Tia Jack, senior Sophie Swain and sophomore Hayna LaFerriere finished 17th overall at 1:50.52.


Mohonasen-Schalmont senior Mary Kate Conway finished 10th in the 'A' final of the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:54.59. Ballston Spa junior Emma Hoffman was 15th overall at 1:55.11, swimming in the 'B' final. Shenendehowa junior Alice Han finished 26th at 1:56.20, Emma Willard junior Willa Werwaiss was 27th at 1:56.72, Saratoga Springs sophomore Rachel Love was 29th at 1:5701 and Niskayuna sophomore Isabel Nelson was 30th overall with a time of 1:57.41 in the 'C' final.

200-individual medley

Guilderland senior Kasey Keaney swam a 2:09.31 in the 'C' 200-yard individual medley for 22nd place overall.


Bethlehem senior Sydney Sorbello finished in seventh-place overall in the 50-yard freestyle at 23.71 seconds in the 'A' final. Teammate, junior Megan Novak was 14th overall with her time of 24:29 in the 'B' final.


Albany Academy eighth-grader Anna Flanders finished eighth-overall in the 1-meter diving competition with her score of 446.30 points. Saratoga Springs senior Renee Maslak made the final cut, finishing 20th overall with 395.40 points. Bethlehem sophomore Maya Earleywine was 22nd and teammate, sophomore Robyn Arnason was 24th with 278.75 points, respectively.


Mohonasen's Mary Kate Conway finished 22nd overall in the 100-yard buttefly with her time of 58.00 seconds in the 'C' final.


Bethlehem junior Megan Novak finished 11th overall in teh 100-yard freestyle with her time of 52.09 seconds in the 'B' final. Teammate, senior Anna Bernasconi was 28th at 53.77 and Ballston Spa junior Emma Hoffman was 29th, at 54.20, respectively in the 'C' final.


Emma Willard's Willa Werwaiss finished 21st overall in the 500-yard freestyle with her time of 5:06.37 in the 'C' final followed by Shenendehowa's Alison Sposili 25th at 5:08.92 and Bethlehem eighth-grader Katherin Ferreira 28th at 5:11.76.

200-freestyle relay

The Bethlehem foursome of senior Anna Bernasconi, junior Maggie Hartman, junior Megan Novak and senior Sydney Sorbello finished in second-place overall in the 200-yard freestyle relay with an All-America consideration time of 1 minute, 36.14 seconds, touched out by Sleepy-Hastings-Edgemont-Irvin's quartet at 1:35.82.

The Mohonasen-Schalmont group of senior Amaya DiGiovanni, freshman Abigail Sellnow, freshman Amanda Jurgelon and senior Mary Kate Conway finished 21st overall, capturing the 'B' final in 1:39.27. Albany Academy's foursome of freshman Mea Amedia, senior Liv Eisenhardt, senior Sydney Steinhardt and junior Claire Gerdeman were 26th overall in 1:40.43.


Shenendehowa junior Alice Han was 16th overall in teh 100-yard backstroke, swimming to a 58.04 second time in the 'B' final followed by Burnt Hills-Scotia-Glenville' sophomore Ally Frame's 58.36.


Bethlehem senior Sydney Sorbello swam to a fifth-place finish overall in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:03.89. Shenendehowa's Alison Sposili was 14th at 1:06.35 followed by Shaker seniro Emily Yu at 1:06.59 and Bethlehem senior Anna Bernasconi was 20th at 1:07.52 in the 'B' final. Guilderland-Voorheesville senior Kasey Keaney was 26th at 1:07.37.

400-freestyle relay

THe Bethlehem foursome of Maggie Hartman, Sydney Sorbello, Anna Bernasconi and Megan Novak finished fourth overall in the 400-yard freestyle relay in an All-American consideration time of three minutes, 30.78 seconds with the Mohonasen-Schalmont foursome of Amaya DiGiovanni, Marianna Santabarbara, Amanda Jurgelon and Mary Kate Conway finishing 10th in the 'A' final in 1:49.45.

The Shenendehowa quartet of Alice Han, Meghan Rock, Shannon Waryncia and Alison Sposili finished 16th in the 'B' final at 3:38.15. Niskayuna's Rebekah Eckman, Grace Roberts, Nina Chicatelli and Isabel Nelson swam to a 22nd-place time of 3:37.67.
