Supervisor - Develop Kmart finally

Sound Off

The supervisor of Clifton Park said in the paper the other day that he wanted all the big box buildings to be developed and being used, no empty box buildings. What about Kmart? Why can't they do something with that? It's been lying vacant for years. Developers tried and tried and the town keeps putting them off. The town should be ashamed of themselves.

Another park?

Just what we need in the Town of Clifton Park, another park. People should be ashamed of themselves. The school district lost over a $1 million by this. Who is going to pay for this park? Maintenance? Upkeep? Absolutely ridiculous the Town of Clifton Park fell over for the people on this one. Town supervisor should be ashamed of himself. Spineless.

Support for barber shop decor

I'm tired of all the negative comments about the barber shop. For many people who live in Clifton Park you remember that corner lot stood vacant for many, many years. I'm happy to see that someone purchased the property, it's a small business owner and the property is well kept and decorated to his tastes. It looks wonderful regardless of what all these people are saying. It's decorated with a beautiful sleigh right now that lights up. So stop complaining about the barber shop. That lot looks beautiful.

Coal from National Grid

Thank you National Grid for almost doubling our delivery charges for December. Merry Christmas to you too!

Thank you for the positive Sound-Off

I would like to thank the person who acknowledged Salty's and the Rotary for their wonderful Thanksgiving meal. It was such a breath of fresh air to finally read a positive response to the Sound-Off about a person who was so grateful to receive a nice Thanksgiving meal when they came out of the hospital and took the time to acknowledge something positive in our community, unlike the other articles that talk about 'Unhappy with the voting story," "Clean up your leaves on Mann Boulevard" "Snow plows out early" and "New addition to the barber shop storefront" where they can't believe that they had black lawn jockeys outside their store.

So to that person who took the time to call in for a positive story, I thank you for that and I hope that you are feeling better and that you are out of the hospital and are getting strength every day. And to the wonderful and giving people of our community who took the time on Thanksgiving to volunteer their time to our community I thank you as well. God bless and Merry Christmas.

Missing mailbox and post

I am calling in reference to the black car that took out our mailbox Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017. I you would please return our mailbox and mailbox post I would gladly give you back your driver's side mirror and the rest of the car parts that you left strewn about in our yard as you did leave a property damage accident and you are now in possession of stolen property. So please return our mailbox and mailbox post.

Clifton Park-Halfmoon EMS asking for more

Just wondering why Clifton Park-Halfmoon EMS keeps on asking for donations. I know my taxes are paying for their, every year I have money taken off for taxes out of my tax bill and I know they get $500 for a ride down to Albany. Maybe they should cut back on the Mercedes Ambulances and maybe go with something a little bit cheaper. But they want me to send them a $50 donation. Hmmm. I don't think so.

Vandalism in Jonesville

I have been increasingly concerned about the graffiti and tagging in the Jonesville area. The underpass on Carlton Road, the exterior of the former BP Supply Corporation on Main Street and a number of homes privacy fences in the Country Knolls area have been spray painted and tagged. There has been vandalism to the cars and most recently the (name omitted) family's Christmas display on the corner of Carlton and Main had the wires cut. I believe these incidents are all related and an increase in police presence would be needed. If anyone has any information please contact the police.

Support for cross at barber shop

I'm responding to the last Sound-Off comment in the Dec. 8, 2017 Community News which labeled a Clifton Park barber shop owner as a "animal" for displaying the universally recognized cross of Christ on his front lawn. Jesus was crucified on a similar cross to save you and me from our sins. Sadly, as the Dec. 8 Sound-Off comment makes clear, Christians are still being persecuted 2000 years later for expressing their faith through symbols such as the cross. I will continue to be a proud patron of the veteran-run barber shop and fully support the owner's expression of his faith and his patriotism through the flags and symbols his displays on his front lawn.

Waterford lights worth the trip

Thank you Waterford for the lovely display of holiday lights on your waterfront, beautiful. Worth the trip from anywhere. Again, thank you!

Enough on the barber shop

This is in response to the new additions to the barber. Enough already! It is his property, not yours. No one tells you how to adorn or how not to adorn your property. Mind your own business and move on!

Report on cause of fires

The rash of fires is of great concern to everyone. Why are there almost no reports on the causes? We did learn about the cause in Cohoes, human stupidity. Always the news reports in saying the cause is being investigated, but nothing else follows. Could this newspaper follow up? People need to know about the causes and avoid such disasters.

More barber shop support

I read with interest your Dec. 8 Sound-Off to the article 'New additions to barber shop storefront.' Who is this idiot, he objects to a cross being put out. I am sure he is probably an atheist with not a brain to join him. Anyway, I live around the corner from this barber shop, I don't know the owner, don't know anything about him, but I admire his flags and his statues and his cross. This person who wrote his letter 'New additions to barber shop storefront' I think either has a personal gripe with this person or doesn't have a clue about how our country needs support right now. Kudos to the barber shop. He finally gives us something to think about, especially the American flag. I just hope that this person can find some good psychological help somewhere in our community.

Cross blesses drivers near barber shop

In my opinion the Community News is unwittingly aiding the covert campaign of harassment and name calling of the barber shop owner as he exercises his First and Second Amendment rights. I believe the cross placement blesses the many drivers as they pass through that intersection.

Cut health funding, buy a helicopter

The state of New York and Governor Cuomo cuts funding for breast cancer research, but they can afford to buy a $12 million helicopter. Something is not right here. You should be very proud Governor.

Good for the feds!

It's about time the federal government started investigating Gov. Cuomo's office. Way overdue.

Just say no!

When you're doing drugs you blame everybody but yourself. It's still one word...No! I will not try something that will kill me.

Gillibrand changing tune

So Kiki Gillibrand is calling for Al Franken to resign. Well, you know what; I'm calling for Kiki to resign. She stood by, said nothing, when Chucky Schumer paid off all them women that had allegations against all the political people in Albany. So for this Ms. Gillibrand, I think you should resign for now, now you're doing this and years ago you said nothing.
