Shenendehowa Educational Foundation

Fifteen years ago, the Shenendehowa Educational Foundation (“Shen Foundation”) was established by a group of area residents as an all-volunteer, not-for-profit organization that would raise and distribute funds for educational enrichment and innovation beyond the basic operational needs of our school district.  From the beginning, the Foundation has supported both academic and experiential activities to benefit Shen students, while continually exploring better ways to bring the community and alumni together to celebrate this great local institution.

To date, the Shen Foundation has successfully raised nearly a half million dollars---principally through its annual Green and White spring gala---and has funded dozens of grants to support strong science and technology, arts, music, athletics, and anti-bullying programs.

In 2013, to further one of its goals to enhance alumni participation, the Shen Foundation established the “Hall of Distinguished Alumni” to recognize Shen graduates who have made significant and noteworthy contributions through their careers, to their community or other humanitarian endeavors.  It continues to be our goal to acknowledge notable Shen alumni who will serve as role models for today’s students through their demonstration of the importance of education and the power of learning.

All graduates of Shenendehowa are eligible for nomination beginning ten years after graduation----nominations are reviewed by a representative committee of former Shen grads and community leaders. Typically one to three former students are inducted into the Hall of Distinguished Alumni at the annual Green and White Gala - this year’s event is scheduled for April 13 at the Hilton Garden Inn.

The Shen Foundation knows that many outstanding Shen graduates rightly deserve special recognition and we would like to encourage your nominations. To learn more about the Hall of Distinguished Alumni and view past inductees, go to Nominating forms are available there or at and should be submitted by February 15.  Those not recognized this year will typically be considered in future years.
