I am Ram Lalukota, a father of two middle school students in the Shenendehowa School District who is campaigning for a seat on school board as a write-in candidate in next month’s election. I am asking for your vote.
I have been a resident of the school district since 2005. During that time I have been involved in school programs and the PTA and have also volunteered in the classrooms and at camps on several occasions.
Like many parents today, I recognize that the safety and security of our schools is on a lot of peoples’ minds and that is one reason why I always encourage parents to get involved in school programs along with their kids.
I believe in making a better future for our school system. As global markets are changing so quickly, we need to prepare students with new skills. We should use the available technologies in our school system to improve the quality of our education.
I have a proven history of leadership. I was elected President of the Tri-City India Association, a leading Indian community organization, for the past two years and have also served on our Temple Board. In those leadership roles I have worked with state and local elected officials to help the community as well as with the YMCA and Red Cross on community services.
I graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering degree from a university in India, moved to United States 20 years ago for a better opportunity, adapted to the culture here, and became U.S. citizen. I have a professional background working around the state for the last 17 years as an information technology consultant.
I am a successful businessman running an IT company for more than 10 years and establishing a restaurant in 2016.
If elected I would bring diversity to the board as well as my wealth of experience in information technology and private business, my creativity, collaborative spirit and passion, and a commitment to education that will enable me to be an effective school board member.
I always listen to concerns with an open mind and try my best to resolve and help whoever is in need. I ask for your vote on May 15 as a write-in candidate.
